Driver on the road, with Drivie within reach on the car screen

Your Homey in CarPlay and Android Auto

Drivie puts your favourite flows, devices and moods on your car screen. You tap to switch something on or off, start a flow or pick a mood. This part of Drivie is free.

What you control from the car

While driving, Drivie keeps to quick actions: switching something on or off, starting a flow or mood, or a one-tap action like opening the garage door.

Dimming lights or adjusting the thermostat is deliberately not possible in the car. Google forbids that kind of fine control in Android Auto while driving, and Apple only allows tasks that help with driving in CarPlay. You do that in the app on your phone when you are parked.

Confirm first for locks, alarms and garage doors

For your safety, Drivie always asks for confirmation before it operates a lock, garage door or alarm, in CarPlay and in Android Auto. You cannot switch that off.

If a smart plug drives your gate or door, set that device in the Homey app to be a garage door or lock. Drivie then asks for confirmation there too.

You choose what is there

On your phone you choose which devices, flows and moods appear in the car. CarPlay can shorten long lists, and how many you see depends on the car. So put your most important favourites first.

Questions

Is Drivie in CarPlay and Android Auto free?

Yes. CarPlay and Android Auto are part of Standard and work without a subscription. Notifications from your Homey on the car screen and the Drivie widget on the CarPlay dashboard are part of Pro.

Does it work when I am away from home?

Yes. Drivie uses the same Athom cloud connection as your Homey app. It works anywhere as long as your phone and your Homey have internet.

Drivie does not show up in CarPlay. What now?

On your iPhone, go to Settings, General, CarPlay, pick your car and tap Customise. If Drivie is under More Apps, tap the plus. Also open Drivie once on your iPhone before you connect.

Drivie does not show up in Android Auto. What now?

Smart home apps live in the Android Auto app launcher, not as a tile on the dashboard. Look there first. Some phones put apps you have not used for a while to sleep; open Drivie once on your phone.
